Light at the end of the tunnel: Sunny & warm weather hitting Netherlands on Sunday
After a chilly and gloomy start to summer, Netherlands residents only have to hold out a few more days for better weather. On Sunday, a period of sunny and warm days will be hitting the country, with maximums climbing to summer values of 25 degrees or higher from Monday, according to the meteorological institute KNMI.
But first, there are still a few days of cloud cover and showers. Thursday will start off with some sunshine but grow increasingly cloudy. The southeastern parts of the country may see some showers in the afternoon. Maximum temperatures will range between 18 and 22 degrees with a weak to moderate east- to northeasterly wind.
Friday will be very cloudy, with showers spread across the country. The west may see a bit of sunshine in the afternoon. Maximums will range between 16 and 22 degrees. Saturday will still be gloomy and on the cold side, with sunshine for 30 percent of the day and maximums around 21 degrees.
From Sunday, the sun will get the upper hand over the clouds. Little to no rain is expected, and maximums will quickly climb to summer values. The KNMI expects afternoon temperatures around 24 degrees on Sunday, climbing to around 27 degrees by Wednesday.
After that, the weather will still be fairly warm but with an increasing chance of rain and thunderstorms. “From June 29, probably changeable weather with great uncertainty in the temperature,” the meteorological institute said.
