Up to 110 km/h wind gusts expected with heavy rain this evening
Strong winds are expected in the south and west of the Netherlands this afternoon and evening. The KNMI issued a code yellow warning for Noord-Holland, Zuid-Holland, Zeeland, and Noord-Brabant, warning of gusts up to 110 kilometers per hour. The northern parts of the country can expect heavy rains.
The strong winds warning takes effect in Zeeland at 2:00 p.m., Zuid-Holland and Noord-Brabant at 4:00 p.m., and Noord-Holland at 5:00 p.m. The worst should be over by 8:00 p.m., the KNMI said.
Gusts will be between 80 and 100 km/h in Zeeland and Zuid-Holland, reaching 110 km/h along the coast. Noord-Holland and the western parts of Noord-Brabant can expect gusts up to 90 km/h
The KNMI said the north can expect 20 to 30 millimeters of rain this afternoon. The rest of the country will also see showers. This evening, the south and east should dry up somewhat, followed by the north and west later in the night.
Tuesday will also be cloudy and wet but with less rain and more chance of sunshine. Maximums will climb to around 15 degrees, slightly warmer than Monday but still cold for the time of the year. Wednesday and Thursday will be dryer, but the rain will be back in full force from Friday. Thermometers should reach 20 degrees by the weekend.
