Disapointed Keukenhof visitors flood TikTok with videos of wilting, dead flowers
In recent days, TikTok was flooded with videos showing wilting fields and dead flowers in the Keukenhof. Visitors who expected to see the Netherlands’ famous flower garden in full bloom made their disappointment clear on social media. “Pro tip: don’t go to Keukenhof in May,” one wrote.
Another advised not to visit Keukenhof the week before it closes. “Went there yesterday, a waste of money,” another person commented on a video. Another called the garden the “Kerkenhof,” Dutch for cemetery. “I was so disappointed, almost all the flowers were gone.”
A spokesperson for the famous flower garden told Omroep West that the blooms depend on the weather conditions. “We let visitors know this through our communications,” they said, pointing to the “flowering message” on Keukenhof’s website, which shows recent photos of what the garden looks like.
“In the week of May 6, we expect less flowering in the park in view of the warm weather and the heavy rainfall in recent weeks,” the spokesperson said. The end of spring is also visibly approaching. But that doesn’t mean that there are no remaining flowers in the Keukenhof.
“The last flowering species are blooming in the park. The other flower beds have finished blooming or are headed. The gardeners maintain the park optimally.”
