Man dies after being found gravely injured inside Arnhem garbage truck
Police in Arnhem said that a man was found badly wounded in the back of a garbage truck on Tuesday morning. The victim later died from his injuries, and it was not clear what led to the incident.
Police said it was likely a “fatal accident” and that a crime was not believed to be involved. “The victim may have been sleeping in a paper container when it was emptied, and was seriously injured,” police said.
He was discovered in the truck on Maisveld in the Gelderland city. Records show that ambulances raced to the scene at about 8 a.m., followed closely behind by a trauma team dispatched by helicopter.

“The victim’s identity is not yet known. This is part of the investigation. Appropriate assistance will, of course, be offered to all involved,” police said in reference to victim support services.
An investigation was trying to determine what exactly happened. Police officers were speaking with employees of the garbage company PreZero, who came to empty the container, De Gelderlander reported. A PreZero employee stayed at the scene to help investigators operate the truck during their investigation.
A spokesperson for the waste company did not have much information about what had happened on Tuesday morning. “Fortunately, we rarely experience these types of accidents,” he told the regional newspaper.
