Sixteen-year-old arrested for deadly shooting in Purmerend
A 16-year-old from Purmerend was arrested on Tuesday for the fatal shooting in the town, the police reported on Wednesday. The suspect is currently in custody and is only allowed contact with his lawyer.
The police received a report at 8:05 p.m. on Monday of a shooting near the train station in Purmerend near the Stationsweg. A 19-year-old man from the Noord-Holland municipality was killed, with another man who was also 19 from Medemblik heavily wounded. He is currently in the hospital, according to the police.
The police are investigating the case with a special team. Multiple arrests have not been ruled out. The police are also calling on witnesses to come forward and ask that images showing the fatal victim not be distributed online.
There was also a deadly shooting incident in IJmuiden on Tuesday night. The police have said that there is no connection between the two incidents.
