Multiple Rotterdam homes damaged in explosion; Firework bomb suspected

An explosion on Sparrendaal in Rotterdam-Feijenoord left multiple homes and cars damaged on Sunday night. One person was also checked over by paramedics for injuries, the fire department said to Rijnmond.

The fire department and ambulances were dispatched to the scene at around 10:20 p.m. They found damaged cars and homes. The police believe a fireworks bomb was behind the blast, according to the broadcaster.

Earlier in the evening, there was another blast on Indische Tuin in the IJsselmonde district. The windows of an apartment were shattered. Here too, a firework bomb is suspected.

The police are investigating.
