
First frost of the season hits NL
The first frost of the autumn happened in four places at once this year. Minimums dropped below zero in Gilze-Rijen, Eindhoven, Maastricht and Twente overnight. "With that the first ground frost after the summer is a fact", Weeronline reports.
The lowest temperature was measured at the weather station in Gilze-Rijen at -0.9 degrees. Minimums dropped to -0.4 degrees Celsius in Eindhoven and Maastricht, and in Twente the lowest temp of the night measured at -0.1 degrees.
According to Weeronline, this is a very normal time of year for the first ground frost of the season. On average, autumn's first ground frost comes on September 12th.
The last time there was ground frost in the Netherlands, was in the middle of the summer. On July 10th, temperatures dropped to -0.7 degrees in Twente. A week earlier, on July 4th, Twente was even colder at -1.6 degrees - the lowest July temperature ever measured in the Netherlands.
