Teen girl dies from stab wounds in Breda home

Authorities say a girl found injured in a stabbing at a house in Breda has died. The young girl killed on Monday afternoon was reportedly 15 years of age.

Police confirmed that an underage suspect was taken into custody at another location in Breda. He is 16, according to Nu.nl.

Neighbors near the Bilderdijkstraat location said that the girl lived at the home alone with her mother, reported AD.

Officers were dispatched to the scene within minutes of the first call for an ambulance at 2:12 p.m. A second ambulance was sent about ten minutes later, and a trauma team was sent by helicopter at 2:25 p.m.

Authorities initially said the victim was wounded. Unconfirmed reports placed the time of death at approximately 3 p.m. Police confirmed the girl died in a social media message published at 3:20 p.m.

An "extensive" investigation and trace evidence collection was underway at the crime scene, police said.
