KPN launches online claim form for customers affected by outage
Telecom company KPN launched an online claim form for customers inconvenienced by a nationwide outage last week Monday. In addition to leaving emergency number 1-1-2 unavailable for over three hours, KPN customers could also not make or receive calls during the outage.
The form, along with a FAQ, went live on Tuesday morning. KPN customers are invited to fill out the form, after which the company will evaluate whether they are eligible for compensation.
The outage happened between 4:00 p.m. and 7:15 p.m. on Monday, June 24th. Both emergency number 1-1-2 and the police's main contact number were unreachable during that time. Two people, a person in Twente and a woman in Diemen, died during the outage.
In the FAQ, KPN said that the cause of the outage is still under investigation, but again stressed that it was not caused by a hack and that the outage affected KPN systems, not the 1-1-2 system itself.
