Underage suspect grabs cop's gun during arrest

A minor suspect was arrested on suspicion of shoplifting in Almelo on Wednesday afternoon. During the arrest, he managed to grab one of the police officers' firearm. The police quickly managed to take the gun back from the boy, NU.nl reports.

The boy had been worked to the ground by supermarket staff. He then tried to hurt himself by banging his head on the ground, the police said. When officers tried to help the boy to his feet, he violently resisted and a struggle ensued. It was during this struggle that he grabbed the cop's gun.

The young suspect only had the gun in his hands for a few moments before the officer took it back. The incident will be evaluated internally.
