Dutch man, 49, shot dead in Colombia

A 49-year-old Dutch man was shot and killed in the Colombian municipality of Copacabana, about 20 kilometers north of the city of Medelin. He was shot near his home on Monday. The perpetrator or perpetrators were on a motorcycle, NU.nl reports.

The man died from wounds sustained in the shooting, the local authorities said to newspaper El Colombiano. The authorities could not say anything about the motive for the murder. Local media report that the Dutch man lived in Copacabana for around 6 months.

According to a spokesperson for the municipality of Copacabana, eight people have been killed in the region this year.
