Missing Amsterdam girl, 13, found driving parents' car on highway
A 13-year-old girl from Amsterdam is facing some trouble from her parents and the police on Tuesday. After her father reported her missing on Monday evening, the police found her driving her parents' car on the A4 highway, NOS reports.
While searching for the missing child, police officers noticed an inexperienced driver swerving across the A4 highway near Hoofddorp. "Between 90 and 120 kilometers per hour", a police spokesperson said to NOS.
In order to prevent accidents, the police closed down the highway and blocked other traffic. With the help of the Koninklijke Marechaussee, a policing force that works as part of the Dutch military, the girl was finally stopped at Leiderdorp.
The girl was arrested and fined. "She had a firm talk with the police", the spokesperson said. "And of course also with her parents."
