Train halted over suspicious situation; one arrest

Train traffic on the Arnhem-Utrecht route was disrupted on Wednesday afternoon due to a suspicious situation on a train. A man was arrested around 2:00 p.m. on a train at Veenendaal-De Klomp station. The man shouted that he had a bomb, witnesses said to Omroep Gelderland.

Exactly what happened is not clear. A police spokesperson told the Gelderlander that they received a report that the man wanted to hurt people.

The train was halted at the station and 12 cops in bulletproof vests entered the train. The man was arrested. He seemed to be in a disturbed state and was therefore transferred to the crisis service, according to Omroep Gelderland.

Train traffic restarted a short time after the arrest.
