
Shots fired, explosive found at Amsterdam office building
Shots were fired at a business premises on Johan Huizingalaan in Amsterdam during the early hours of Tuesday morning. Responding officers also found an explosive on the street outside the building. This building is located next to another office building that was shot at over the weekend, the police said in a statement.
At around 3:00 a.m. the police received multiple reports of gunshots heard on Johan Huizingalaan. The police responded to the scene, but did not find anything suspicious at the specified location.
Around 5:30 a.m. an employee of an office building on the same street called the police to report damages to the building. Police officers immediately launched an investigation. What appears to be bullet holes were found in the building's facade. The officers also found an explosive on the street at the back of the building. Explosive experts were called in to disarm the device. The police did not say what type of explosive was involved.
During the early hours of Sunday morning, another business premises on Johan Huizingalaan was shot at. The two buildings are located right next to each other. The police are investigating whether the two cases are connected.
Investigators call on witnesses to come forward.
