Train stopped in Amsterdam over suspicious situation

The police stopped a train at Amsterdam Lelylaan station due to a suspicious situation at around 6:00 a.m. on Tuesday morning. The police action was done by 6:30 a.m. and train traffic resumed, according to NU.nl.

The stopped train was running between Hoorn and Schiphol. A platform at the station was evacuated. The police did not say what suspicious situation triggered the halt.

Police officers searched the luggage of a suspected person, the Amsterdam police said on Twitter. Nothing suspicious was found. A "possibly unknown disturbed person" was taken to the police station, the police said. Exactly what he is suspected of, is not clear.

The police action disrupted train traffic on the Hoorn to Schiphol route, but it is now getting back on track.
