Exchange student drowns in Amsterdam

A 24-year-old man was taken from the water at Bogortein on Java island in Amsterdam Oost on Monday. He was resuscitated and rushed to hospital, but passed away. The victim was an exchange student from Ecuador, the Telegraaf reports.

The student was swimming with friends when he disappeared under water. His friends sounded the alarm.

Fire department divers found him quickly and resuscitated him at the scene. He was rushed to the hospital, where he died.
