Man stabs ex in Bergen op Zoom supermarket

A 49-year-old man stabbed his ex-wife with a chisel in a supermarket in Bergen op Zoom on Wednesday morning. The man was arrested almost immediately after the incident, AD reports.

The man entered the supermarket around 10:50 a.m. and walked right up to his ex. He stabbed her with a chisel, injuring her.

A police officer in civilian clothing happened to be in the supermarket and witnessed the attack. She ran after the perpetrator, overpowered and arrested him, despite his resistance. Bystanders helped her.

The man is in custody while the police investigate exactly what happened.
