Cop dragged by car after breathalyzer test

A police officer sustained minor injuries when a drunk driver attempted to flee from him in the Gelderland village of Eck en Wiel during the early hours of Monday morning. The officer was holding on to the man's car when he tried to speed away and was dragged for 10 to 15 meters, ANP reports.

This happened after a breathalyzer test showed that the man was driving under the influence of alcohol. The motorist was easy to trace, because the officer still had his driver's license.

The 34-year-old man was arrested at his home in Lienden on Monday morning.
