Queen Maxima turns 47

Queen Maxima is celebrating her 47th birthday on Thursday. Unlike last year, the Dutch Queen has no official appointments today, and will be celebrating her birthday at home with her family, NU.nl reports.

Maxima and then-Prince Willem-Alexander met each other in the Spanish city of Seville in April 1999. They got married on February 2nd, 2002, and have three daughters together - Amalia, Alexia and Ariane.

In addition to being Dutch Queen, and the best liked member of the Royal Family, Maxima also fulfills a number of social functions. She is a special envoy for the UN Secretary General for inclusive financing, a member of the Council of State, honorary chairman for the Platform Ambassadors More Music in the Classroom, and honorary president for the Platform Wiser in Money Matters.
