Large fire on Amsterdam shopping street

A fire broke out in a shop building on Kalverstraat in Amsterdam on Thursday morning. The fire is raging on the third floor, above clothing store Mango.

"The fire is probably raging in the warehouse", a spokesperson for the fire department said to NU.nl. Firefighters are at the scene, trying to get the fire under control.

The well known shopping street was closed off to the public. The fire department calls on local residents to close their doors and windows, and switch off their ventilation system.
