Two arrested after wild chase through Amsterdam

A wild chase through Amsterdam Zuid ended with a crash into a streetlight on Stadionweg on Thursday night. Two people were arrested, the Telegraaf reports.

The car involved was stolen earlier on Thursday. "They did not benefit from it for long", a police spokesperson said to the newspaper.

The chase started on Churchilllaan, when the driver of the car ignored a police instruction to pull over. The suspects sped across Stadionweg multiple times, and also took on the A10 highway before crashing into a streetlight on Stadionweg. The two people in the car were arrested and taken away.

A witness told AT5 that the car swerved across Stadionweg. "He had flat ties. At first I thought that someone was shooting at the car. He rode on its rims and crashed right in front of me. And then immediately two police cars were there."
