Hague man arrested in Rotterdam teen's death
A 27-year-old man from The Hague was arrested on Sunday on suspicion of involvement in the death of 17-year-old Orlando Boldewijn from Rotterdam. The suspect is the owner of a fishing boat on which Oralndo was seen the night of his disappearance, a source told newspaper AD.
Police spokesperson Angelique Chatta would not confirm this to the newspaper. "We will not say anything about this in the interest of the investigation", she said. "We are talking to the man and we hope that the puzzle pieces will soon fall into place."
Orlando had a date with a man, made through dating app Grindr, in Ypenburg in the Hague on February 18th. He never returned home and was reported missing. His body was found in lake Blauwe Loper in Ypenburg on February 25th. The police searched the lake near a small island - where the 27-year-old man from The Hague often moored his self-built fishing boat - based on an anonymous tip.
It is known that Orlando was on the fishing boat on the night of his disappearance, according to the newspaper. The vessel was confiscated a few days after Orlando's body was discovered. How the Rotterdam teenager died is still unclear.
