Two seriously hurt in overnight Amsterdam shooting

Two people were seriously injured in a shooting in the Amsterdam neighborhood of De Pijp. Multiple shots were fired, the police said on Twitter.

The police reported the shooting around 1:00 a.m. on Monday morning. It happened on Van Ostadestraat. The victims were taken to a hospital in the city. The police closed the area around the shooting and launched an investigation.

According to Amsterdam broadcaster AT5, the victims were sitting in Cafe Zuid when a man opened fired on them from an Audi. Around 10 shots were fired from what is believed to be an automatic firearm. The car sped away immediately after the shooting, heading towards Dusarstraat.

So far nothing is known about the identity of the victims.
