Video: Pupils chase knife waving man out of Alphen school

Brave pupils of the Scala college in Alphen aan den Rijn chased a man waving two knives out of their school on Wednesday. No one was injured.

Video footage of the incident shows the man making stabbing motions towards the pupils at the school on Diamantstraat. A group of pupils chased him off by throwing their school bags at him.

Responding police officers arrested a 44-year-old man a short time later. Two knives were confiscated. According to the police, the man is 'disturbed', known to the police and is already following an aid program. "It's being investigated whether other care programs are possible", the police said.

The school will provide support for the pupils.
