Firework bomb, 100 kilos fireworks found in Arnhem home

The police discovered over 100 kilograms of fireworks, including an improvised firework bomb in a home on Klarendalseweg in Arnhem on Wednesday evening. Restaurant Sugar Hill, located below the home, was evacuated while an Explosive Ordnance Disposal team removed the bomb. A 26-year-old man from Arnhem was arrested, the police said on Twitter.

The police found the fireworks based on a tip late on Wednesday afternoon. When the firework bomb was found later in the evening, an explosive specialist and the EOD team was called in and the restaurant was evacuated. Emergency services also responded as a precaution.

The EOD team removed the firework bomb, and safely disposed of it on a terrain on Koningsweg in Arnhem, according to AD. Specialists removed the rest of the fireworks from the home. Some of these fireworks were illegal.

The arrested suspect is the resident of the home. He is in custody for questioning.
