Cops find huge amount of fireworks, weapons in storage unit under A'dam police station

Police officers found hundreds of kilograms of illegal fireworks and weapons in a private storage unit located directly beneath a police station in Amsterdam. “A life-threatening combination that you don’t want anyone near,” the police said on Facebook.

The storage unit is located beneath the Overtoomsesluis police station on Hoofdweg in Amsterdam-West. Officers checked the storage unit after an anonymous tip.

The tip also mentioned an apartment building on the same street. The police also found illegal fireworks and weapons in a home in the building.

The police secured the two sites and removed the explosives and weapons. There is no longer any danger to the surrounding area, the police said.

No arrests were reported.
