Suspect arrested in fatal Amsterdam shooting

The police arrested a 39-year-old man from Amsterdam in connection with a shooting on Thursday morning that left a 19-year-old man dead and three others injured. The police believe that the arrested suspect was the gunman, ANP reports.

The shooting happened around 1:00 a.m. on Thursday on Kattenburgerkade. Witnesses told the police that one man opened fire on a group of four young men. The 19-year-old man was killed and three others, aged 18 and 19, were taken to hospital with various injuries. All victims are from Amsterdam.

The police believe that this was not an assassination, but rather think it was the result of a conflict that preceded the shooting, a spokesperson said on Thursday, according to the news wire.

So far the police released no details about the identity of the victims.
