Amsterdam woman killed in fall from apartment building: report
A 27-year-old woman who died on Djakartaterras in Amsterdam on Sunday morning, was killed in a fall, RTL Nieuws reports. The police are considering three scenarios - an accident, suicide or a crime. The victim is Sofie Kerklaan from Amsterdam, according to newspaper AD.
Sofie lived on the fourth floor of an apartment building on Djakartaterras. She was found seriously injured on the pavement in front of her apartment building around 2:45 a.m. on Sunday. Emergency services tried to resuscitate her, but it was to no avail. She died at the scene.
According to RTL, the autopsy on her body showed that she had severe fractures and brain injuries. She had no visible external injuries and there was no alcohol in her system.
The police have no indications pointing specifically to one of the three scenarios they are considering. Police officers interviewed two of Sofie's housemates, but they could provide no useful information.
On Wednesday a former housemate also said she doesn't know what could have happened. "Together with my housemates from that time I am in the dark and madly confused", the housemate said, according to the broadcaster. She called Sofie the "extreme hippy" of the house. "A smile - not a smile but a grin - that could never be taken from her face. Money did not interest her, she did what she wanted, she photographed and danced."
Investigators still want to talk to a man seen cycling on Djakartaterras around 3:00 a.m. on Sunday.
