Breda high school reunion canceled over threatening email

A reunion planned at the Stedelijk Gymnasium in Breda for Saturday, was canceled after the school received a threatening email. The school felt the threat in the email was serious enough to report to the police, rector Pieter Breuer said to AD.

"It's only one line, but that was enough for us to go to the police. They advised far-reaching security measures. After internal consultation, I decided to postpone the reunion. We expect a thousand guest and we want to keep it festive. That can not be done in this way", the rector said.

The school reported the threat to the police, and investigators are trying to figure out who sent it. "I can not say anything about the origin. According to the police, it's not easy to find the sender behind the IP address."

Breuer called it regrettable that the reunion had to be canceled. It will be rescheduled for another date.

Police spokesperson Erik Passchier confirmed the threat to AD. "In response to the mail we made a threat analysis in consultation with the municipality of Breda and the Public Prosecutor. The advice that resulted from this was the reason for the school leadership to postpone the party."
