Thick fog triggers weather warning
Motorists in large parts of the Netherlands will have to deal with thick fog on Tuesday morning, especially in the center, west and south of the country. Meteorological institute KNMI issued a code yellow warning, saying that visibility may be reduced to less than 200 meters.
"Dangerous driving conditions due to poor visibility", the KNMI warns. "Adjust speed and keep a sufficient distance. Fog can be treacherous due to sudden appearance. Follow weather reports and warnings."
According to Weeronline, the thickest fog will be around IJsselmeer. During the early hours of Tuesday morning, visibility around Lelystad was reduced to only 59 meters. Noord-Brabant can also expect severe visibility problems in some places.
The fog is expected to clear up during the course of the morning. The rest of the day will be cloudy, with intermittent periods of sunshine, according to the KNMI. Afternoon temperatures will climb to around 18 degrees Celsius.
