Escaped Belgian jewel thief caught in Amsterdam
A prisoner who escaped in Antwerp in July, was arrested in Amsterdam on Thursday. Belgium requested that he be extradited, AT5 reports.
According to the broadcaster, the man in question was one of two arrested for stealing expensive jewelry from homes in Belgium. Both suspects managed to escape police custody when they were set to appear in court. They attacked a police officer in front of the court and took off, still wearing their handcuffs.
One of the suspects was caught a short time later. The other was on the run until he was caught by the Amsterdam police on Thursday.
