Armed robbery at Breda casino; perpetrators at large

Two armed men robbed the Players Casino on Ginnekenweg in Breda on Wednesday night. No one was injured. The perpetrators are still at large.

The armed duo came into the gambling hall around 11:00 p.m. and forced everyone inside to lie down on the ground, according to the police. The robbers threatened an employee with a firearm and forced the employee to hand over money. They then fled on a dark colored scooter towards Zuidelijke Rondweg.

According to Omroep Brabant, there were about 15 people in the gambling hall at the time of the robbery. "I thought it was a joke at first. They came in so easily", one visitor said to the broadcaster. "Then they shouted that we must all lie down on the ground. We were really scared. My friend kept lying on the ground but I ran outside and immediately called the police. The officers were there within seven minutes."

Exactly how much was stolen is unclear. What is clear is that the robbers were only after the casino's cash register, a police spokesperson said to the broadcaster. "The staff and visitors were threatened, but remained unharmed. They also didn't have to hand over their wallets."

The perpetrators wore camouflage clothing, balaclavas and helmets, according to the police. They have dark colored skin, are between the ages of 25 an 30 years and around 1.8 meters tall.
