Doctor gets wedding invite after successful surgery
Nijmegen gynecologist Bertho Nieboer recently received a surprise letter in the mail. One of his patients invited him, and his trainee, to her wedding after they performed a successful surgery on her at Radboud MC.
"Always nice to receive mail from patients but this was very special", the doctor posted on Facebook, where he is known as Dokter Bertho, with a photo of the hand written invite.
"In the operating room we always try to create (if possible) a comfortable atmosphere prior to anesthesia. So we came to talk to this patient about her upcoming marriage and just before the anesthesia I probably said something like: 'If this surgery goes well, we'll be getting an invitation right?' Usually such comments don't last, but this time it did."
The invite starts with a quote: "If this surgery succeeds, you invite us to your wedding..." it reads. "Promise is a promise! I hearby invite you both to our wedding."
"Now to think about what I'll wear", the doctor finishes.
