Eight injured in A12 pileup; highway closed from German border towards Arnhem

At least eight people were injured in a serious accident involving three trucks and one car on the A12 highway at the Oud-Dijk junction in Zevenaar on Tuesday morning. The A12 highway from the German border in the direction of Arnhem is closed while the scene is being cleaned up. Cleanup is expected to take until 1:00 p.m., the police said on Twitter.

The cause of the accident and the extent of the victims' injuries are unclear, according to the Gelderlander. Emergency services, including air ambulances, police and fire department, are at the scene. Firefighters had to free victims from the car, according to the newspaper.

A12 traffic is being diverted via the A73 and A77. Traffic coming from the A18 is advised to detour via Didam and Zevenaar on the N355 and N813.
