Amsterdam street shooting leaves one dead
A shooting in Amsterdam Osdorp let one person dead on Tuesday night. According to the police, one man was gunned down on the street. The victim has not yet been identified. The police are investigating.
The shooting happened on Professor R. Casimirstraat around 10:45 p.m. Police and forensic experts closed down the scene for investigation, which was expected to take all night. A large-scale investigation team was established to find out what exactly happened.
Local residents told Amsterdam broadcaster AT5 that they heard multiple gunshots. A witness told Het Parool that the victim is a young man, no older than 20 years.
Another local resident told the newspaper that he got a message on the street's WhtasApp group, used to report incidents that happen on the street in an effort to make it safer. Someone who went out to walk his dog saw two young men with hoodies on the street. They walked away when he tried to approach them. The police were called. Shots were fired a short time later.
