Angry neighbor drives over boy after doorbell prank

A 12-year-old boy's day of mischief with his brother ended with him in the hospital with a broken leg. The boys were ringing doorbells and running away in Purmerend, when one angry resident hit the boy with his car, the boy Ivano told broadcaster WNL.

On Saturday night the two boys rang the man's doorbell on Nijlstraat as a prank, sprang on their bikes and cycled away. "The man did not come out. And then he came out of nowhere driving at quite a speed. Then he hit my brother", Ivano's brother Miguel told the broadcaster.

According to WNL, Ivano underwent surgery and is still in the hospital with a broken leg.

The man left the scene of the accident "without identifying himself and without worrying about a boy who was injured", the police wrote in a statement. He later returned to the scene and was arrested by the police, The 52-year-old man is still in custody. He will be arraigned on Wednesday.
