Explosives found in Tilburg over New Year's intended for crime: Prosecutor

A bunch of explosives found in Tilburg over New Year's was not intended as fireworks, but as some kind of crime. The 25-year-old man who was arrested at the discovery of the explosives is officially suspected of "preparing for a crime", a spokesperson for the Public Prosecutor said on Tuesday, AD reports.

The spokesperson for the Prosecutor would not say what the man planned to do with the explosives. He did give a statement, but the judiciary does not believe it, according to the spokesperson. The Prosecutor does not believe that the man had terrorist motives. He is still in custody.

The explosives were found on Munttorenstraat in Tilburg. The police described it as "deadly homemade explosives" and called in the Explosive Ordnance Disposal tea to deal with it.
