Dutchman arrested for stabbing Belgian's eyes out

A Dutch person was arrested in Brussels on Sunday on suspicion of stabbing another person's eyes out in the Belgian capital, ANP reports.

The incident happened during the early hours of Sunday morning. The Brussels police responded to reports of a man walking the streets with severe head injuries around 3:00 a.m. When the man was found, the officers discovered that his eyes were gouged out. The Belgian victim was rushed to the hospital in a serious condition. His eyes and a blade was found farther up the road.

According to the Belgian prosecutor, the suspect is Dutch with the initial A.I. and born in 1983. He lives in Belgium. A.I. confessed to fighting with the victim, but did not confess to gouging his eyes out, the Public Prosecutor in Brussels said on Monday. The two had an altercation earlier in the day.

The Dutch suspect was arrested on Sunday afternoon and will be arraigned on Monday afternoon.

According to Beligan media, the victim is a 33-year-old man of African descent.
