Shootout with Dutch police leaves three suspects injured

A car chase followed by a shootout with the police ended in three suspects injured by police bullets in Weert on Sunday. A total of four suspects were arrested, the police said in a statement on their website. It started in Venlo around 1:00 p.m. on Sunday. The police tried to pull over a car with Belgian license plates. Instead of stopping, the car sped off and the police gave chase. During the chase, the suspects fired on the police. The police finally managed to get the car to a stop in Weert. As the suspects got out of the car, they opened fire on the police officers. The police shot back, hitting three of the four suspects. The three injured suspects were taken to hospital for treatment, the fourth was taken directly to the police station. The extent of the injuries is unknown. According to the police, the suspects have not yet been identified. A technical investigation was done at the place of arrest.
