Hot and sunny day ahead for Netherlands; heat warning in effect
A lovely day lies ahead for the Netherlands with clear skies and plenty of sunshine, according to meteorological institute KNMI. Though with afternoon temperatures raging from 27 degrees along the Wadden sea and 33 degrees in the south and southeast, residents are advised to stay cool and hydrated.
The KNMI issued a code yellow weather warning for persistent heat, which is in effect for the entire Netherlands until 11:00 p.m. on Thursday. The RIVM also implemented the National Heat Plan. Everyone in the Netherlands is advised to drink plenty of water, keep yourself and your home cool and avoid exercise during the heat of the day. This especially goes for vulnerable people - the very young, elderly, chronically ill and obese people.
Wednesday and Thursday will be just as hot with afternoon temperatures rising to 34 and 32 degrees respectively. Friday and the weekend will be more cloudy, though still hot.
