Police divers find automatic weapon in Amsterdam shooting investigation

Divers from the police found an automatic weapon in the Wittenburgvaart on Monday. The canal is in the area where Hussein A. was nearly assassinated over the weekend. It is not yet clear whether the weapon found was used in the attempted assassination, Het Parool reports. Two men on a scooter opened fire on A. during the early hours of Saturday morning on Tweede Wittenburgerdwarsstraat. A. escaped with only minor injuries by jumping over a fence and into the garden of homes in Poolstraat. The perpetrators fled the scene. There is still no trace of them.
