€150k, 35kg cocaine found on scooter rider in traffic stop

The arrest of a man for riding a scooter without a helmet led the police to the discovery of 150 thousand euros in cash and over 45 kilograms of cocaine during the early hours of Saturday morning, the police said in a statement. A motorcycle officer pulled the suspect over for not wearing a helmet on 18 September Square in Eindhoven just before midnight on Friday. The man could not identify himself and ran away, leaving his scooter and suitcase behind. The officer gave chase, and with the help of other officers, caught and arrested the man around 00:05 a.m. In the left-behind suitcase the police found over 25 kilograms of cocaine. This led to a search of the man's home on Kanaaldijk-Zuid in Eindhoven, where another 10 kilos of cocaine was found in a shed as well as 150 thousand euros in cash. The cash and cocaine were confiscated. The suspect is in custody for further investigation.
