Ede police tells neighborhood watch to stay out of problem area

The Ede police warned action group Identitair Verzet to stay out of problem neighborhood Veldhuizen. Neighborhood patrols will not be tolerated there because it will violate the ban on assembly, ANP reports. The Veldhuizen neighborhood has been restless for the past weeks due to a group of young people causing trouble. Following a series of car fires, the Mayor of Ede decided to implement a ban on assembly, since which nine youths aged 15 to 19 were arrested. Identitair Verzet and local group Ede Veilig planned to patrol the neighborhood from Friday. They feel the police don't have control over the situation. But the police disagree. "It is currently manageable in the neighborhood", a s spokesperson said to the news wire. "The last thing we want is extra unrest because groups provoke each other. We will therefore be very attentive to the mood on the street and intervene directly if necessary." People who break the ban on assembly, including neighborhood patrols, will be arrested and can be given and administrative fine of 5 thousand euros.
