First snow, now lightning & hail expected across Netherlands

All of the Netherlands can expect dreary weather today, with some areas even waking up to snow. Meteorological institute KNMI issued a code yellow warning for the entire country for storms, lightning and hail. The warning is effective until 5:00 p.m. inland and 7:00 p.m. along the coast. Overijssel, Gelderland and Noord-Brabant also need to be careful of slick roads due to snow and hail. The code yellow warning for this is in effect until 8:00 a.m., but the KNMI warns that there could still be slick spots on the roads afterwards and motorists should remain vigilant. Zuid-Holland isn't only stormy on Tuesday morning, but also very windy. Gusts of up to 90 kilometers per hour can be expected in the province. The winds are expected to die down somewhat during the morning. The KNMI warns that the lightning, storms and hail can cause problems with traffic and outside activities. Stay away from open water and open areas and do not seek shelter under trees. Afternoon temperatures will be around 8 degrees. King's day tomorrow is also expected to be wet, cloudy and cold. There is an 80 percent chance of rain and only 30 percent chance of some sunshine. The thermometer will read around 9 degrees, but according to the KNMI, it will feel around 2 or 3 degrees outside. According to ANP, tomorrow will be the coldest King's Day since the 80's.
