Police find €16 million in cocaine, arrest nine people
A national police team in the Netherlands tracked a container full of cocaine from the port in Rotterdam to a business in Den Haag, where they arrested six people. Investigators found 500 kilograms of cocaine, with a value estimated at 16 million euros, under the false bottom of a refrigerated container, broadcaster Omroep West reported.
Police also seized a “substantial amount of money,” a spokesman said.
The raid took place on Tuesday at a commercial address on Westvlietweg. The company registered there says it handles the importation of tropical products originating in South America, the broadcaster stated.
While six were taken into custody at gunpoint by the masked arrest team in Den Haag, three others were arrested across the Rotterdam area in connection with the case. They will each be arraigned sometime on Friday in Amsterdam.
All those in custody range in age from 36 to 60, and authorities believe more will be held in connection with the case.
