30 euro wedding dresses quickly sell out in Zeeman stunt

Retailer Zeeman's stunt of selling wedding dresses for only 30 euros each is a huge success. The first 400 dresses put up for sale on Tuesday morning, sold out in no time, NOS reports. "There is a lot of attention on this action. In fact, more than we initially hoped for" a spokesperson for Zeeman said to the broadcaster. Another 500 dresses was made available for sale on Tuesday afternoon. The store will eventually sell 1,500 wedding dresses at 30 euros each. "The other dresses we are only offering next week, so that everyone gets the chance to purchase one." A number of people already placed their cheaply purchased wedding dress on classifieds site Marktplaats. The Zeeman spokesperson called this "crazy". "For the people do not even have the dresses in house yet. They are delivered within 48 hours."
On Tuesday Zeeman CEO Bart Karis announced the chains intention to open about a hundred stores in new markets this year in an interview with Flemish business paper De Tijd. The company already has 1,230 stores, mostly in the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, France and Germany. Karis also stated that Zeeman is very busy renewing its current store. A total of 280 stores were renovated over the past year and in the coming year another 100 will be renewed.
