Police raid house, arrest one in connection to odd Breda kidnapping

The police arrested a 50 year old man from Chaam on Tuesday on suspicion of involvement in the kidnapping of Rien de Koning and Gino Heeren in Breda end December. The suspect's house was searched and the police believe that more arrests will follow. According to BN De Stem, the suspect is Alex B. He is linked to the Juliet gang, which is known for extortion. In 2006 he was also arrested in connection with a kidnapping of a man in Oosterhout. Heeren, 18, and De Koning, 42, were kidnapped from a relative's car dealership in Breda on December 29th. They managed to escape from a shed on the outskirts of Uilcoten on January 1st. The investigation is ongoing and the motive for the kidnapping is still unclear. Early in January the police were "seriously considering" that the kidnapping was in retaliation of a so-called rip deal - a criminal transaction in which one party robs the other - involving cannabis.
