Labour party leans towards bombing Syria in ISIS fight

The PvdA is gradually leaning towards supporting the Netherlands extending its fight against Islamic State to also include bombing the terrorist organization in Syria. The Dutch F-16's are currently only bombarding ISIS in Iraq. According to the Telegraaf, an hours long discussion on the matter revealed that there are fewer and fewer objections to extending the bombings to Syria. Even PvdA Minister Bert Koenders of Foreign Affairs is starting to see that it is necessary to tackle the terrorist organization in Syria, where their supplies, training centers and command centers are located, sources in the Cabinet said to the newspaper. Koenders always advocated for a political strategy. "No, this is a transformation in the Middle East, and should be done by the Middle East itself. With our help.” Koenders said in November when asked about sending forces to Syria. A United Nations Security Council resolution and meetings on the future of Syria "at the highest level" means that a political strategy is also now in sight, according to the newspaper, dispelling a number of political objections.
