Lights go on at world’s biggest Christmas “tree”

The lights on the world's biggest Christmas "tree" - the Gerbrandy broadcast tower in IJsselstein - were lit by Mayor Patric van Domburg on Saturday. While cleaning up last year's Christmas tree early this year, it became apparent that some of the cables and lamps were totally worn out, and for a long time it was uncertain whether the organization would be able to get the 65 thousand euros together to revamp the system, according to the Telegraaf. They obviously succeeded, which means that the broadcast tower can once again serve as a Christmas tree util January 6th.
