Amsterdam theatres donate €37k ticket sales to refugee charity

Theaters, stages and cinemas around the Leidseplein in Amsterdam donated the proceeds of ticket sales on Wednesday to refugee charity VluchtelingenWerk Nederland. This amounted to some 37 thousand euros. Some locations especially adapted their programs to show issues surrounding the refugee crisis. The DeLaMar Theater showed performance Nobody Home of four four young refugees. Ant Theater Bellevue showed the play La Isla Bonita/Het Debuut, NU reports. A number of cinemas also took part, including De Balie, Paradiso, Pathe City, Stadsschouwbrug Amsterdam and Uitkijjk. "I see lots of people walking here on the Leidseplein with bags full of clothes the came to donate", initiator Maarten van der Cammen said to NU. "Touching and heartwarming."
